International shipping was important to execute because we wanted to make sure that anyone could try out our products and enjoy them! From Canada to Australia we can now ship abroad!
Our international shipping launch is due to the hard work and unwavering dedication of Kelly Waldren, VP of Operations! She joined Old Whaling Co. in 2015 starting as a soap maker and working at the City Market. From there Kelly has worked every job in the company, eventually making her way to Vice President of Operations in 2018. From Kelly, “Meeting so many travelers who visited us in the City Market, we discovered the importance of international shipping, which ensures our customers around the world can now stock up in-between visits to Charleston. We have tried to ship a few orders internationally over the years, but the cost was so high, it just never made sense.”
Kelly and April set sail to make this happen for Old Whaling Co. Being accurate & transparent with pricing and availability were very important. There was a lot of uncertainty about how to change over currency and after working with UPS, Miva and Zonos, it all came together! A great relationship with our UPS representative, Andrew (shout out!), again made this goal possible.
To a team that started making soap in a garage and shipped boxes out of a mailbox that could only fit five packages inside, this feat is extraordinary. “We finally executed international shipping to reconnect with our international customers and share our favorite OWC products with everyone - regardless of where they reside!” Kelly says. She went on to say, “We’re passionate about what we do and love learning about ways we can grow and be better.”
